What can you do to keep your customers informed?

If your business is affected by COVID-19, updating your Goggle My Business profile with the most accurate information for your customer should be a priority.

What we considered normal business hours has had to change to accommodate social distancing. Specific sectors like retail, pharmacies, and GP’s updating hours of operation can be hugely beneficial to both you and your customers. Adding descriptions or additional information you’d like your customer to know can help with minimising human contact as much as possible. For example, are you requesting your customers to order ahead before you visit their store?

These updates will show on Google Search and Maps. With more people searching online for answers, having relevant and correct information let’s your customer know you have their back and providing them with the correct information at the right time. (Google will review changes to ensure the description upholds quality standards. So don’t sweat it if the changes don’t appear immediately)

What info should you change?

  • Manage your information – Use this opportunity to explain whether your business is affected by COVID-19. Share the extra precautions or additional service you are providing or that you are experiencing pitch points and there are delays. Learn more about editing your business description.
  • Create a Post – Use this a live communication channel. On a regular basis update and post what products and services you have available, changes to opening hours or how your business is operating in the current landscape.  Learn how to create a post.
  • Update your phone number – Simple as it sounds, make sure your phone number is the most up to date so your customers can reach you. If you are working from home you may need to update this to a mobile number. Learn how to edit your phone number
